City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Announces Sand Modeling Contest

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Division is excited to announce that the Sand Modeling Contest is back!  The contest will look a little different this year: you’ll have from this Thursday (July 16, 2020) to Sunday (July 19, 2020) to create the grandest sand sculpture you can think up.  

The contest will take place along Minnesota Point to allow for social distancing when building these works of sand art.  Please share a photo with Duluth Parks and Recreation on Facebook or Instagram (DuluthParksMN) or via email (parks@duluthmn.gov) when you have completed this challenge.

Judging the sculptures will take place on July 20th.  (1st place winner receives a $50 program voucher, 2nd place winner receives a $25 program voucher, 3rd place winner receives a $10 program voucher.)  All winners will be contacted through the platform they submitted.  Creativity, size, and varied use of materials go a long way on the judging score sheet. 

We ask that you are mindful of how big of a hole you dig when making these models and fill the holes when you are done.  And remember to not use beach grass when building your model!
