A Portion of the Lakewalk will temporarily close on June 15-16

[Duluth, MN] A portion of Duluth’s Lakewalk will be closed beginning on Monday, June 15 - 16. Contractors will be onsite welding a steel plate extension to the existing sheet pile wall. Work on June 15th will begin at 7:00 a.m. and is expected to be complete by 4:00 p.m. A different contractor will be onsite on June 16th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the end of the workday.

The Lakewalk will be closed just below the stairway at Sister Cities Park and be closed until just before the Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The detour will route pedestrians and other Lakewalk users to the stairs and ramp towards Gichi-Ode’ Akiing Park. Lakewalk users can walk along the Park above the Lakewalk and reconnect in front of the Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Detour signage will be placed onsite throughout the closures.
