NATURE OF INCIDENT: Structure Fire
CASE NO.: 4782
INCIDENT DATE: 5/10/2020
INCIDENT TIME: 1326
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2410 W 24th St.

At 1:24 PM today the Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire at 2410 W 24th St. 2 Engine from Lincoln Park was the first company to arrive and reported heavy black smoke pushing from the eaves of a two stall detached garage. Along with the 7 Engine crew from Duluth Heights, 2 Engine quickly knocked the fire down and moved two vehicles out of the garage. Firefighters from Headquarters also assisted in overhauling the fire.

A quick acting neighbor slowed the spread of the fire by using two dry chemical fire extinguishers on the fire from the exterior. Without a doubt, this action reduced the damage to the garage and it's contents.

There were no injuries and damage is estimated to be $15,000. The fire was investigated and deemed accidental. The cause was improper disposal of stove ashes. Any questions can be directed to the Fire Marshal at 218-730-4398.
