INCIDENT TIME: 01:14
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2309 W. 8th St.

This morning at 1:14 AM, Duluth Fire responded to 2309 West 8th St. for the report of a structure fire. Pre-arrival, Duluth Fire was notified by Duluth Police that the occupant was out of the house.

Units arriving found heavy fire involvement on the back side of the building. Number 2 Engine from Lincoln Park station made entry to the second floor of the house through the front side and extinguished the fire. A thorough search of the house was completed at the same time by other fire units. Their searches found no occupants or pets.

Fire damage to the home is contained to the second floor. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to vent the heat and smoke and assess any fire extension. Damage to the building and contents are estimated at $50,000. There are no injuries to report.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and any inquiries relating to this incident should be directed to the Fire Marshal's Office.
