McComb Promoted to Fire Marshall

[Duluth, MN] The Duluth Fire Department named Sandy McComb as its next Fire Marshal. McComb was promoted from Deputy Fire Marshal, a position that she has served in since 2015. McComb was initially hired with the Duluth Fire Department as a firefighter and then served as a fire equipment operator. McComb has been with the Department for 22 years.

“The best part of my job is getting to help people,” McComb said. “ From being on the rigs to conducting fire investigations, getting to interact with elementary students to teach them fire prevention, I love being able to reach people through the work that we do in hopes of preventing fires.”

“For 22 years, Sandy has been an incredible asset to the Duluth Fire Department,” said Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj. “Her passion for teaching the public about fire prevention through the programs that the Life Safety division offers is infectious. I am excited to see how she puts her personal touch on the Fire Marshal position moving forward.”

McComb is the second female to join the Duluth Fire Department leadership team, the most that the department has had in its history.
