Structure Fire Displaces Family in West Duluth

[Duluth, MN] The Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon. The fire was located at 220 South 70th Avenue West. Crews arrived on the scene at 1:37 p.m. and were able to put out the fire. Four people lived at the residence, and three were home at the time of the fire. The three people, in addition to the family dog, got out safely without injury.

The fire took place in the kitchen. Initial damages are estimated to be $35,000 for structure and contents. The family is unable to remain at the residence, as it has been deemed uninhabitable. The Red Cross has been contacted to connect the family with resources. The Duluth Fire Marshall’s office continues to investigate the cause of the fire.

Fire companies that responded include Rescue 1, 1 Tower, 251 C, 2 Engine, 8 Quint, and 10 Engine. The Duluth Police Department also responded. Crews were on scene for three hours.
