City partners with Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa and ALLETE, Inc. to Improve Trail
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth is teaming up with the Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa to host a community event called Restore Duluth on Wednesday, August 7 from 10am to 12pm along the Superior Hiking Trail near Enger Park.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
9-9:30am Enger Park - Parking Lot – Volunteer Registration
9:30-10am Trail project orientation and travel to project site
10am-12pm Trail restoration project
This event brings together over 10 employees of ALLETE, Inc. who will be led by 20 young people serving on Conservation Corps crews in youth and AmeriCorps environmental conservation positions. Together, the volunteers will participate in a trail hardening project on the Superior Hiking Trail.
Larry Sampson, Superior Hiking Trail Association Trail Renewal Consultant, said, “We are excited to be working with the Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa on this trail project as it takes many hands to keep the Superior Hiking Trail accessible and sustainable.”
ALLETE, Inc. has partnered with Conservation Corps for the past three years providing warehouse space for crew equipment and vehicles at its physical plant at 1510 West Superior Street in Duluth. This event expands the partnership by engaging employees in volunteer service. ALLETE is the parent company of Minnesota Power.
