Information Session on Wild Parsnip and Removal Event to be Held

{Duluth, MN]  The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department will be holding an Information Session on wild parsnip on July 9 at the Morgan Park Community Center (1242 88th Ave W) from 5-6pm. Wild parsnip is an invasive plant and a public health concern. Touching the plant without protective gear can cause a painful rash and blistering. The plant has been found along the Western Waterfront Trail, Munger Bike Path, Lakewalk and continues to spread throughout Duluth.

The public is being asked to help remove the wild parsnip along the Western Waterfront Trail on July 10, from 6-8pm. Attendees must wear long-sleeved clothing, pants, and closed toed shoes.  Protective equipment, tools, and instruction will be provided.  Please meet in the parking lot at the end of Spring Street in Riverside and look for signs that will be posted.  This event will take place rain or shine. The event will be canceled if there is lightening in the area.  This unique opportunity is hosted by the City of Duluth in partnership with the Duluth Collaborative Invasive Species Management Area, and the MN Department of Agriculture (MDA) through a grant funded by the MDA.
