SUBJECT: Greater Downtown Council to produce "Movies in the Park"

 Greater Downtown Council to produce "Movies in the Park" this summer.

This year "Movies in the Park" will be newly produced and operated by the Greater Downtown Council with movies tentatively scheduled to begin July 16th at Leif Erickson Park.

With four seasons of movies completed, Twin Ports Outdoor Movies decided that due to time and financial limitations to take a hiatus from organizing the outdoor movies series. Committed to continuing one of the area’s favorite summer activities, the Greater Downtown Council, who has brought to the community Rock the Block, Sidewalk Days Festival and the newly established Duluth Lakewalk Festival, stepped forward to take the leadership role in coordinating this year's "Movies in the Park". Twin Ports Outdoor Movies will continue to provide its expertise on the film services side of the series.

Trent Edgerton, TPOM owner, brought the region its first outdoor movies series in 2006 with the help of friends and local business sponsors. After the birth of "Movies in the Park" in Duluths Leif Erikson Park, other communities started requesting their own outdoor movies. Trent formalized TPOM which provides regional communities, businesses and organizations with the larger-than-life outdoor screen experience. "Movies in the Park" has now become an annual summer experience in Duluth.

The fifth season of "Movies in the Park" will begin in July pending contract approval by the Duluth City Council. A full movie schedule will be available shortly.
