City of Duluth to Host Free Invasive Knotweed Workshops for Contractors and Land Managers
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Division is excited to announce free Invasive Knotweed Workshops for land managers and contractors. This unique educational opportunity will be hosted by the City of Duluth in partnership with the Duluth Collaborative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA), the MN Department of Agriculture (MDA) and St. Louis County Extension through a grant funded by the MDA. Completion of this free workshop is required by any contractor planning to bid on City of Duluth knotweed management projects.
The free workshop will be held on June 3rd at Lafayette Community Center at 3016 Minnesota Avenue, Duluth. There will be two available time slots: 9:30am-12:30pm or 1:30 – 4:30pm. Please register for one session by visiting https://forms.gle/w6q5YAyKrBjzAYKA7. Attendees will receive a copy of the Minnesota Noxious Weed Guide provided by the MN Department of Transportation.
Invasive Knotweed has been documented at over 300 locations in Duluth. Improper cutting and disposal of Knotweed has become an issue and Duluth CISMA has been encouraging residents to hire a contractor for management. At this workshop, attendees will learn about Knotweed identification, landowner information, best management practices, effective treatment options and resources.
