Duluth Parks and Recreation to host Duluth Parks Day on May 18, 2019
[Duluth, MN] Duluth Parks and Recreation is excited to again host Duluth Parks Day, an event that will engage community members in various activities at two different city parks. Join Parks and Recreation staff and enjoy some of the amazing spaces that our city has to offer!
A new addition to Parks Day is a public open house at Central Hillside Park and Brighton Beach to inform attendees on planned improvements for these parks and gain public input. Information boards will be on display for visitors to learn more about the projects and discuss with City staff.
Events will be held at Central Hillside Park and Brighton Beach.
Central Hillside Park (3 E. 3rd St.), will provide basketball skills sessions and a 3-on-3 tournament, disc golf, chalk art, and more! The first 50 youth will receive a free basketball.
Brighton Beach Park (Congdon Boulevard & 63rd Avenue East), activities will include learning to use GPS units, interactive park planning, and a craft project for all ages! The first 50 youth to attend will receive a free pair of sunglasses.
“Duluth is an outdoor destination where 86,000 residents and over 6.7 million people come from all over the world to enjoy our parks, trails, and outdoor recreation. Everyone in Duluth lives within 1,000 feet of a trail. No other city in the country can say that! I’m so proud of our parks, and the work that our staff and community do in keeping them clean, safe, and accessible to everyone, so let’s get outside and enjoy them on Duluth Parks Day and every day!” – Mayor Emily Larson
Duluth Parks Day will happen rain or shine. Events will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at both locations.
