City of Duluth Removes Merry-Go-Round at Chester Park

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth will be removing a popular piece of playground equipment at Chester Park after a recent inspection found it to be unsafe. After receiving a public comment about the condition of the “merry-go-round” at Chester Park, Park Maintenance sent one of their certified Playground Inspector's to assess the equipment. Due to the age and deterioration of the merry-go-round, it was determined that repair of the railings and compromised junctures is not possible. The City’s Park Maintenance Division conducts regular playground inspections two to three times a year on the 38 park spaces that have playground equipment. Parks and Recreation is in the process of identifying a suitable piece of play equipment to replace the merry-go-round that will be installed as soon as possible.
