INCIDENT TIME: 1237 hours
INCIDENT LOCATION: 215 N Central AVE

At 1237 hours this afternoon, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Dollar Tree Store, 215 N Central AVE. Upon arrival, crews found light smoke coming from the roof. The store was being evacuated during our arrival. Crews made entry into the store and found fire in the storeroom in the back of the building.   Primary and secondary searches were completed, and the fire extinguished.

The fire activated the fire suppression system causing large amount of water damage.  Smoke and standing water was removed from the store.   Initial damage estimates are $15,000 for the structure, and $80,000 for contents.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. The store is closed until further notice.  The business next store, Greystar electronics had a small amount of water damage. The Fire Marshal's office is investigating as to origin and cause of the fire.

Fire companies from Headquarters Station, Lincoln Park Station, Spirit Valley Station, and Gary Station responded to the incident. Fire crews remained on scene for just over one hour. Duluth Police Department responded to assist with the investigation.
