NATURE OF INCIDENT: Ice Rescue
CASE NO.: 18-12263
INCIDENT DATE: 12/1/2018
INCIDENT TIME: 10:40
INCIDENT LOCATION: Park Point bay side

At 10:40 today we were dispatched to Fisherman stranded on ice on Bay Side of Park Point around 37 St and Minnesota ave.

Strong NE winds created crack in ice with open water stranding 36 Ice Fisherman and their equipment.

We removed 35 Fisherman and their equipment using a ladder, 3 Rapid Deployment Craft (RDC) and a boat from four locations between Duluth Rowing Club and the Airport. One Fisherman entered water and made it to shore on his own.

Saint Louis County Rescue conducted final sweep of bay side of Park Point with air boat to confirm all party's were off ice.

This was a multi agency response.

Duluth fire rigs responded from Headquarters, UMD, Lincoln Park and Spirit Valley.

Other agencies involved US Coast Guard, Saint Louis County Rescue, Minnesota DNR, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
