SUBJECT: Invasive Bohemian & Japanese Knotweed Field Workshop
BY: Phil Jents, Community Relations Officer
Invasive Bohemian & Japanese Knotweed Field Workshop
Join Duluth Parks and the Duluth CISMA on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 1:30-3:30PM at Kingsbury Creek above the Lake Superior Zoo for our Bohemian and Japanese Knotweed Workshop. Attendees will learn about Bohemian and Japanese Knotweed’s impact in the Duluth community and what is being done to control it. Topics will include an herbicide demonstration, plant identification, and mapping. Knotweed’s impact will also be covered. This plant has the potential to damage roads, pipes, sewer lines, and building foundations. Knotweed chokes out native vegetation, increases erosion, degrades water quality, and damages habitat for native wildlife.
This workshop is the second in a series of four workshops in our Pulling Together Invasive Plant Series. The next workshop will cover invasive woody plants and their removal on October 3, 2018 at Quarry Park.
For more information and to register for the workshops, please visit: http://www.duluthmn.gov/parks/volunteer and click on VOLUNTEER SIGNUP.
All workshops are free and open to the public.
