 Duluth Community and City to Celebrate Completion of Phase 1 Improvements in Harrison Community Recreation Area

 

 [Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation, Lincoln Park Children and Families Collaborative, the Duluth Community Garden Program and residents will celebrate the completion of phase 1 improvements to Harrison Community Recreation Area. The completed projects involve:

  • Removal of abandoned tennis court
  • New walkway connections throughout park
  • Concrete patio and ADA ramp entrance off back of building
  • Site lighting
  • Fence removal

 

The Lincoln Park Children and Families Collaborative and the Duluth Community Garden Program met and exceeded their required match, including the construction of a community garden, as part of the Neighborhood Park Grant program under the St. Louis River Corridor Initiative. The improved exterior facilities enhances and advances the programs/activities, food access, and health and wellness of the community.

The celebration will take place June 14 at 3:30 pm at the Harrison Community Center, located at 3002 West 3rd Street. Following the brief event, the public is invited to stay for the official 2018 season opening of the Lincoln Park Farmer's Market at 4 pm.
