Duluth Chester Creek Concerts to Incorporate Sustainability Initiative
Reuse, Recycle and Compost
[Duluth, MN] – Warm, sunny days are finally here and the longer days mean more time to get out into the parks! This summer, as a part of our sustainability goals, Duluth Parks and Recreation is collaborating with the Chester Bowl Improvement Club to help make the Chester Creek Concert Series a low-waste event! Attendees bringing picnic items to this weekly gathering are encouraged to use reusable or compostable materials to help achieve this overall goal. Recycling and compostable waste bins will be provided on site.
For these events, Duluth Parks and Recreation is also seeking “Trash Talkers” or volunteers who will help provide guidance to concert-goers about how to dispose of their recyclables and compostables at waste stations. This is a great opportunity to help prioritize our environment, all while enjoying an evening of local music in one of Duluth’s most popular parks!
The concert series starts June 12th and continues every Tuesday night until August 14th. More information about the concert series can be found at www.chesterbowl.org.
To sign up to become a "Trash Talker" visit http://duluthmn.gov/parks/volunteer/volunteer-calendar. Please contact Alayna Johnson, the City of Duluth’s GreenCorps member, at amjohnson@duluthmn.gov with any questions about this and other environmentally-focused volunteer opportunities.
