Duluth to Celebrate Arbor Day with Tree Planting Along Western Waterfront Trail
on May 31
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth in partnership with the Duluth Stream Corps from Community Action Duluth, the Urban Forest Commission and community members will celebrate Arbor Day in Duluth on May 31st with a community tree planting event and presentation of the Mayoral proclamation. This planting project along the Western Waterfront Trail is part of the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation's long term plan to restore native vegetation, remove invasive plant species and reinforce the shoreline along the St. Louis River. The planting of 500 new trees is made possible by a contribution from the U.S. Forest Service.

Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5-7 pm
Volunteers can register online at http://duluthmn.gov/parks/volunteer/volunteer-calendar/
Location: Participants can meet at the parking lot located off 7040 Grand Ave. Overflow parking is available in the lot at 7261 Pulaski Street (at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 75th Avenue West). There is a .3 mile walk from the parking lot to the planting site. Staff will help guide volunteers.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear appropriate attire for working outdoors. Staff will provide equipment and instructions.
