NATURE OF INCIDENT: Structure Fire

INCIDENT LOCATION: 4209 W. Fourth St.

At 1532 hours today, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 4209 W. Fourth St. Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke and fire coming from the front door and South East corner of the house. An initial report of someone possibly inside was determined to be unfounded and the homeowner was found safely outside with some of his pets, other pets were found unharmed. Duluth Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire and kept it contained to the front deck and interior of the porch area. Damage estimates are $15,000  for the structure and $1000 for contents.

The Duluth Fire Marshal's office investigated the fire and determined it to be unintentional and caused by a discarded cigarette.

Fire companies from, West Duluth Station , Lincoln Park Station , Headquarters Station , responded to this fire. Duluth Police and Gold Cross ambulance responded to this fire as well.
