Duluth to host volunteer clean up event for Lakewalk Trail on May 12

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division is organizing a clean up event for the Lakewalk Trail on the morning of Saturday, May 12. The popular Lakewalk Trail has sustained damage from two major weather events. The City is seeking up to 50 volunteers to help clear the turf area along the Canal Park segment of the Lakewalk behind the hotels. There is substantial rock debris that was washed up during the October 2017 and April 2018 storm. All supplies and equipment will be provided. Volunteers will be raking, bending, stooping, and hauling rock material from the turf to the beach. Registration is required. Volunteers must be 12+ years or older.

Interested persons or groups should register online at http://duluthmn.gov/parks/volunteer/volunteer-calendar/

The event will take place from 9 AM to Noon. Volunteers should check in with City staff at the Endion Station parking lot (Canal Park). Participants should dress for the weather. This event will be held rain or shine.
