Duluth Parks to Host "Clean and Green" Clean up Projects
Volunteers Needed
[Duluth, MN] – Spring is well on its way to the Northland, so it’s time to get outdoors! Why not make a difference in the community while you’re out there? Duluth Parks and Recreation is seeking community members to assist with "Clean and Green" projects in city parks and public spaces. It takes a collective effort to keep our abundant outdoor assets "clean and green" for all Duluthians!
Everyone is encouraged to help, whether you are an individual or part of a larger group or organization. The City will provide all necessary supplies to all registered Clean and Green projects and will also haul away the bags of collected garbage after the event!
Individuals and groups are encouraged to commit to picking up garbage at a location of their choice throughout the season by choosing to “adopt-a-spot.” One-time clean-up events are also welcomed and are a great group activity for friends, clubs, or businesses. If you don’t have a particular location in mind, one can be assigned depending on the group’s size, age, availability, and other preferences.
Opportunities to help out begin following snowmelt in early spring and will continue all the way through the season until snowfall in late fall.
Duluth Parks is partnering with Gardner Builders, FUSE Duluth and Friends of the Lakewalk to kick-off the Clean and Green season with an Earth Day beach clean-up on Saturday, April 21st from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm. Volunteers can choose from several locations along the shoreline from Brighton Beach to Park Point. Then on Sunday, April 22nd from 2pm – 6pm, Duluth Parks will be working with the Duluth Experience for a clean-up of Skyline Parkway. Please register for these events and others at http://www.duluthmn.gov/parks/volunteer/volunteer-calendar/.
Any group wanting to organize their own clean-up can register at: http://duluthmn.gov/parks/volunteer/clean-and-green-request-form.
