Public Information Meeting to Address DWP Trail Restoration Project

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division invites the public to attend an informational meeting that will review the upcoming Duluth Winnipeg, and Pacific (DWP) Trail restoration work planned for 2018. The work aims to restore approximately five miles of natural surface trail between Becks Road and Lower Spirit Mountain. This project is part of the St. Louis River Corridor initiative.

The public information meeting will take place on:

       Thursday April 5, 2018

       5:30-6:30 pm

       Morgan Park Community Center

       1242 88th Avenue West

Restoration efforts will improve the existing DWP trail and expand the intended uses for multiple user groups. Planned work will clear a ten foot trail width and address erosion issues at key locations along the corridor. Proposed work includes repairs to washouts and stormwater structures, clearing brush, minor grading, and removal of rock debris from the trail. Residents and visitors can expect construction to begin in spring of 2018.

As part of the trail system improvements, work began in the fall of 2017 on the former Stewart Creek Railroad Bridge and Clyde Connector Trail. Once completed, the refurbished Stewart Creek Bridge, Clyde Connector and DWP trails will provide improved access and connectivity to the western segment of the City of Duluth trail network.

For more information, the public is encouraged to attend the upcoming informational meeting or visit the City's website at www.duluthmn.gov/st-louis-river-corridor/dwp-trail-corridor/.
