At 19:20 the Duluth Fire Department responded to 222 North 2nd Ave East which is a high rise apartment building. Upon our arrival we had smoke on the 6th floor with sprinkler system in fire apartment activated extinguishing fire. Resident of apartment was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to area hospital for evaluation. Fire crews vented out smoke and vacuumed up water. Fire investigator investigated and determined it was an accidental cooking fire. Fire damage estimate to apartment is $20,000.
Fire companies from Headquarters, UMD and Lincoln Park responded along with Duluth Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
