The Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a structure fire at 9428 Grand Avenue at 01:21 hours this morning. Initial arriving companies reported fire in a mobile home, with smoke and flames showing. Fire companies from Gary and West Duluth made quick entry and extinguished the fire. Though the structural damage is limited, the contents of the home are a total loss due to high heat and heavy smoke damage.

There was one male occupant in the home at the time of the blaze. He escaped through a small bathroom window. The male was transported to a Duluth hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time. Two dogs were removed from the fire, however efforts to revive them were not successful.

The origin and cause of this fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office. Damage to the building and contents is estimated at $25,000.
