Duluth's Quarry Park Soon to Have More Amenities

(A St. Louis River Corridor Initiative)

[Duluth, MN] - Duluth's newest park, Quarry Park, is getting ready for a new season and new fun amenities. Lake Superior Disc Golf Community volunteers have been working to clear vegetation for the construction of a proposed 9-hole disc golf course and will continue to work over the spring and early summer. Work crews will be using chain saws and brush cutters and will be working during daylight hours including weekends as their volunteers are available. They will be on site working through July 1. The public is encouraged to stay clear of work areas and out of the fall zone of debris where workers will be using chain saws and brush cutters.

Quarry Park became an official city park in May 2016. The 30-acre park is located below Skyline Parkway adjacent to Brewer Park in West Duluth, and above the neighborhood between 46th Avenue West and 59th Avenue West. The recommendation for the 9-hole course was developed as part of the City Council approved 2016 Quarry Park Mini Master Plan. This is the second project completed from the Mini Master Plan, the first being an access ADA trail which was built by volunteers from the Duluth Climber’s Coalition completed in 2016.  The project is part of the St. Louis River Corridor Initiative and is funded in part by the ½ and ½ Tourism Tax Fund.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact Kyle Carlson at 218-409-4532.  To learn more about the Lake Superior Disc Golf Community, visit them on Facebook.
