Playfront Park temporarily closed to make way for "new" playground structure.www.juniorleagueduluth.org

Playfront Park will be closed temporarily beginning Monday, April 19th. The reason for the closure is to begin preparations for the building of the "new" Playfront Park which will take place Friday, May 21st through Sunday, May 23rd.

Junior League of Duluth, in partnership with the City of Duluth is moving forward with the building of the "new" Playfront Park. The original Playfront Park, built in 1990 by 3,000 volunteers over 5 days, has proven to be one of the most popular parks in the city. Children over the past 20 years have had the opportunity to play and use their imagination on this creative structure. The "new" Playfront Park will be the first of its kind in Northern Minnesota and will provide children with a unique fun filled play experience.

Deconstruction of the old Playfront structure will begin with the help of the Sentence to Serve Program participants on Monday, April 19th at 10:00 AM and conclude on Friday, April 23rd when 30 Americorp workers finish the project. Site work will be conducted in early May in preparation for the community build, which will begin on Friday, May 21st and run for three days. Both skilled laborers and general volunteers are needed to assemble the new playground. If you are interested in helping build this park please go to

The "new" Playfront Park will open on Friday, June 4th at 4:00 PM with a festive community celebration. The public is invited to attend.
