At Midnight the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a fully involved structure fire, the first rig on the scene, #6 Engine from the Lakeside station reported a fully involved house with a report of one person possibly inside. Fire crews deployed hose lines and immediately started a fire attack and search for anyone inside. The fire was deep seated and traveled throughout the home causing very extensive fire and smoke damage. Firefighters with the aid of a thermal imaging camera found an unconscious person in the home and firefighters brought the person outside and he was given the best of life saving efforts but he succumbed to the effects of the fire. The fire was eventually brought under control and overhaul efforts were extensive as hidden fire in voids and spaces were in many places. Twenty one firefighters responded to this fire and remained on the scene for almost four hours. An ambulance was called to assist in life saving efforts and DPD remained on the scene to assist.

Initial damage estimates are $150,000 for the structure and contents, there were no firefighter injuries. The Fire Marshal and Deputy Fire Marshal were called to the scene and investigated the fire which is on going, any further statement regarding this fire will be put out by the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office.
