CASE NO.:
INCIDENT DATE: 4/10/2010
INCIDENT TIME: 12:00 PM
INCIDENT LOCATION: Duluth Fire Headquarters
On Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM, the Duluth Fire Department will host a Marrow Drive at Duluth Fire Headquarters, located at 602 W. 2nd St.
This event is being organized by the family of Roy Chelsen, a New York City firefighter who responded to the attacks on 9/11. Roy was diagnosed in December, 2005 with Multiple Myeloma. He has been through numerous blood transfusions, chemo treatments and even a self stem cell transplant, which put him in remission for a year. Roy is now in need of a stem cell donor.
Roy and his family are asking you to join the Registry of committed potential donors that stand ready to give patients like Roy a second chance at life.
Registration is easy! A consent form is filled out and a swab of the cheeks is taken. Your tissue type is added to the Registry until your 61st birthday. Every day 6,000 patients search the Registry in hopes of finding a match.
All you need to be eligible is to:
* Be between the ages of 18 - 60
* Be willing to donate to any patient in need
* Meet health guidelines
If you have any questions about the Registry or the process, please call Trish at 845-258-1020 or email at mtrish@optonline.net
We hope to see you all on Saturday afternoon!
