COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE CENTENARIANS WITH BIRTHDAY PARTY
[Duluth, MN] - The annual “100 Year Birthday Party Celebration” will be held on Wednesday, October 5, at 10:00 am in South Pioneer Hall at the DECC. The City of Duluth will honor 9 individuals celebrating being 100 years or more young. Their life stories are interesting and inspiring and interlaced with life lessons.
Dan Hanger, from Fox 21, will emcee and read a short biography on each guest. Mayor Emily Larson will present a special certificate of honor to each from the City, and the audience will sing a rousing “Happy Birthday to You” followed by birthday cake and coffee.
This event is open to the public. The following individuals will be recognized:
Thelma Kortkamp – age 100
Anna Maloney – age 101
Viola Miller – age 103
Viola Nelson – age 102
Janet Petersen – age 102
Margaret Rathe – age 102
Marian Olive Rotondi – age 100
Helen Slordal – age 102
Martha Westlund – age 101
The party is held in conjunction with the Duluth Senior Expo and is sponsored by the City of Duluth with support from the AEOA Senior Dining Program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Come early to Pioneer Hall at 9:30 am to get a good seat and enjoy music performed by the talented Chmielewski Funtime Band. Stay after the party for more music by the Bluewater Big Band and explore the exhibits and other entertaining features of the Duluth Senior Expo.
