Quarry Park Main Access Trail Project Starts September 30
a St. Louis River Corridor Initiative project
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division is informing the public about the scheduled construction of the Main Access Trail into the new Quarry Park at the 59th Avenue West Parking Lot. The 550 foot-long Main Access Trail will be built at 5% grade and 5 feet width making it accessible to all users and ADA compliant.
The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of October. Trail users should be mindful of crews and equipment on the trail.
The project is part of the St. Louis River Corridor Initiative and was made possible by a grant from the American Alpine Club and the volunteer efforts and in-kind contributions of the Duluth Climbers Coalition.
Quarry Park formally became a City of Duluth park in May of 2016 after the Council approval of a mini-master plan. The plan outlines a vision for Quarry Park to be a neighborhood park offering accessible trails, disc golf, connections to the Superior Hiking Trail and Duluth Traverse, in addition to world-class ice climbing as a major component.
