Duluth Parks Wayfinding and Trail Orientation Plan Hones in on Final Design Options, Public Input Still Needed

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division is close to completing a comprehensive city-wide Gate, Wayfinding and Trailhead/Orientation Plan. This has included a field inventory and analysis of Duluth's trail and bikeway system, design and planning for implementation and recommendations for educational and informational signage both at trail access points to the proposed St. Louis River National Water Trail. The completed plan will present clear and consistent signage throughout the system.

The City has partnered with key stakeholders and land managers to identify key components of the plan. A Public Open House was held in August in which the elements of design were narrowed.

The public is encouraged to complete the online Survey Monkey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GLM8J2D and register input on the concepts for the park monument entry signs and trail kiosks.

The survey will be open until September 16, 2016. For more information about the overall plan, visit the Parks website at http://www.duluthmn.gov/parks/parks-planning/city-wide-gate-and-wayfinding-master-plan/

The final plans based on public input will be presented to the Duluth Parks Commission at their October 2016 meeting.
