SUBJECT: Structure Fire at 810 Rockview Court
BY: Assistant Chief Chris Martinson

NATURE OF INCIDENT: Structure Fire
CASE NO.: 16007836
INCIDENT DATE: 8/1/2016
INCIDENT TIME: 11:06 A.M.
INCIDENT LOCATION: 810 Rockview Court

The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 810 Rockview Court. Lakeside Engine Company #6 was the first to arrive and stated upon size up that the attached garage was fully involved with fire and a vehicle was fully involved in front of the garage as well. The initial fire crew pulled hose lines and began to fight the fire, as the Assistant Chief pulled on scene there was a heavy volume of smoke and flame that was starting to increase rapidly. As more fire companies arrived on the scene and began to deploy large caliber water streams the fire slowly began to decrease in size. Two people who were in the home at the start of the fire were able to safely evacuate. A dog that at first was thought to be inside was found later safe and sound outside of the home. Interior fire crews searched for fire extension but they kept the fire damage to mostly the garage area. Twenty one firefighters responded to this fire with no reported injuries. A neighboring home did sustain some damage to property and windows due to the extreme heat that the fire was giving off.

Initial damage estimate is set at 100,000 dollars to the vehicle and home. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Duluth Fire Department Fire Marshals Office. Any additional information will be provided by the Fire Marshals.
