Congdon Boulevard Culvert Project to Start This Week
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public about upcoming drainage repairs scheduled to start May 25, 2016 along Congdon Boulevard from Trunk Highway 61 (Brighton Beach) to McQuade Road. The project consists of providing cured-in-place-pipe lining of thirty-three culvert pipes, two culvert pipe replacements, and numerous culvert pipe spot repairs along a portion of Congdon Boulevard. The project completion is anticipated to be in November.
The goal is to maintain two way traffic for the majority of the project period. The project will not require road closures initially for the pipe lining. However, the culvert replacements will require the closure of Congdon Blvd at two locations, 7825 Congdon Blvd and the area just north of Lakewood Road, starting on June 20. Each replacement will be done in sequential order and take about two weeks each. Motorists should watch for detours.
The contractor will ensure that the work does not negatively impact scheduled events such as Grandma’s Marathon, Superior Man Triathlon, North Shore Inline Marathon, and the Lung Run/Walk. The road surface will be smooth, equipment will be moved off-site, and construction detours will not be in effect during these special events.
