Flood Damaged Trail Restoration in Western Corridor to be Completed This Summer
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth hired A+ Landscaping last year to work on several restoration projects for trails damaged in the flood of 2012. These included work along the old Duluth Winnipeg Pacific rail bed, on old Thomson Hill Road leading up from the Zoo, a trail leading up from 95th Avenue West and various locations on the western snowmobile trail system. The work this year is a continuation from 2015 and will commence next week. The project is expected to be complete in July 2016.
The work involves areas identified by FEMA back in 2012 as flood-related damages. The City is charged with restoring infrastructure back to pre-disaster condition.
The entry locations for contractors to get into the damaged sites are: Clyde Ave and W 95th Street, Gogebic Street, Knowlton Creek Boulevard, Redruth Street, Waseca Street, Vinland Street, Westgate Boulevard, Earl Street and Russell Road.
Any questions about the project can be directed to Tom Pfeffer, City of Duluth Engineer at tpfeffer@duluthmn.gov or 218-730-5104.
