Cross City Trail Construction at 63rd Ave West Starts This Week
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is working on the fourth of a multi-phase construction of the Cross City Trail, a St. Louis River Corridor Initiative project. The Cross City Trail is a planned multi-use bicycle and pedestrian trail that would connect the Lakewalk in Canal Park west to the State Munger Trail and additionally from Spirit Mountain to Beck's Road using the former Duluth Winnipeg Pacific (DWP) rail corridor. A Mini-master Plan commenced in 2015 with extensive public input to plan the trail alignments.
This particular segment near 63rd Ave West and Green Street started last year with bridge installation. This year, workers will focus on trail construction and intersection crossings. Residents will see site activity between 8 AM and 6 PM with trucks hauling equipment or debris from the area. There is no impediment to motor vehicle traffic. The project is anticipated to be finished by the end of May this year.
