INCIDENT LOCATION: 3219 Vernon St
The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1135 pm at 3219 Vernon St. in Lincoln Park. Number 2 Engine from the Lincoln Park station was first on the scene and reported fire on the first flow showing and smoke showing from the second floor and attic. Firefighters from the Downtown, Spirit Valley and UMD stations also responded. Three residents of the upstairs apartment were able to evacuate the building safely and no one was home at the first level unit. Firefighters extinguished the fire but heavy damage was sustained to both levels and the attic. Initial damage is estimated at $60,000 to the structure and $20,000 to contents. The fire is not suspicious and is being investigated by the Fire Marshal.
