The fire that occurred February 18. 2016 at 219 N 6th Ave W, Gloria Dei Church is accidental in nature , caused by electrical wiring. The determination was made by the Duluth Fire Marshal's office following their investigation. The fire started in the void space above the plaster ceiling. The fire burned undetected for hours before smoke reached a smoke detector on the drop ceiling below. The smoke detector activation it what prompted Duluth Fire Department response.
