Public Meeting to Discuss Use of Old Main Park

 

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Division is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 6:30 pm at the University of Minnesota Duluth, 1117 University Drive Solon Campus Center, Room 120. The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on a proposal to allow Congdon Park Soccer Club’s U6 teams to use Old Main Park as a soccer field during the months of August and September.

 

Old Main Park is located along East 5th street between North 22nd and North 23rd Avenue East.  The park is currently considered an open green space with no structured recreational opportunities. Congdon Park Soccer Club is in need of additional field space for its U6 and U8 teams. These teams currently share Rose Field, which is over-used during its late-summer season (August and September). The field would only be used for the U6 soccer teams.  There would be no permanent structures added to the park and teams would use pop up goals.

 

The City encourages the public to attend this meeting to ask questions or provide comments for this proposed use of Old Main Park. Anyone unable to attend this meeting can send comments to Joshua Abraham, Recreation Specialist, at jabraham@duluthmn.gov
