11 Duluth Neighborhood Park draft plans to be presented at February 4 public meeting
(Part of the St. Louis River Corridor Initiative)
[Duluth, MN] - The public is invited to attend a public meeting on February 4, at 5:30 PM in the Morgan Park Community Center, to review draft mini-master plans for 11 St. Louis River Corridor neighborhood parks (Piedmont, Harrison, Merritt, Keene Creek, Grassy Point, Norton, Smithville, Riverside, Blackmer, Historical and Fond du Lac). These plans were produced from input provided by community stakeholders, user groups, residents and City staff at public meetings last year.
The format of the meeting will be an open house with boards displayed with staff and consultants available for individual and small group conversations. Each park master plan will be summarized on a board with the draft concept plan, list of improvements, priorities, phasing, and cost estimates. Comment cards will be available at the meeting for attendees to give written comments on each plan.
The draft mini-master plans will be posted online with a survey, which will be open for comments following the meeting. The mini-master plans will then be revised, finalized, and approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council in March and April.
The City encourages the public to attend the public meeting and provide input. Those unable to attend can email questions or comments to Lisa Luokkala, Project Coordinator, at lluokkala@duluthmn.gov or mail comments to her at Parks and Recreation, 411 W 1st St., Ground Floor, Duluth, MN 55802.
