At 00:02 on Sunday January 17th, 2016. The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the wall at a private residence.
Upon arrival to the two-story house, firefighters found fire in the upstairs bathroom. A handline was deployed to the 2nd floor and the fire was quickly knocked down. The fire had extended to the attic area and the exterior of the house. Crews were able to extinguish the fire after quick overhaul.
The homeowners were unsuccessful in trying to extinguish the fire before calling 911. At the time of the fire there were two people and two dogs inside the house. They all evacuated upon arrival of the fire department. Although the house was habitable, homeowners chose not to remain in the house overnight.
