At 20:39 p.m. on Thursday December 3rd, 2015 the Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1225 E. 6th St.

Upon arrival of the first fire rig, there was light smoke visible from the front peak area of the roof of the house. Firefighters went to the third floor and could see flame and smoke inside the structure, entry was made to the third floor and hose lines were quickly advanced and firefighters began fighting the fire. The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to a small area of the house. Salvage and overhaul operations continued until the fire was completely out. One of the occupants had dialed 911 for a report of a smell of smoke and an alarm sounding in the upstairs apartment. There were three separate apartments to this building and all tenants were out of the building upon the Fire Departments arrival. There were no injuries reported in this fire. All tenants from the building were placed with either friends or family for the evening. Damage is estimated to be $30,000 dollars. The cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical by the Duluth Fire Department Fire Marshal and any further information will be provided by the Fire Marshal.
