Lincoln and Memorial Parks Planning Meeting Scheduled for November 10

[Duluth, MN] - The public is invited to attend a second community meeting to discuss improvements and proposed renovations to Lincoln Park and to also provide an opportunity for the public to review the final draft of the Memorial Park Mini-Master Plan. The purpose of the meeting is to review a draft site plan for Lincoln Park based on the community input gathered at the August 25 public meeting and other comments submitted by postal mail and website. Staff will also seek input from attendees on the final draft plans for Memorial Park at the same meeting.

The public meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 10th from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Harrison Community Center, 3002 W 3rd Street.

The final Mini-Master Plans for Lincoln Park and Memorial Park will be used as a tool for planning and implementing future improvements to the parks by the City of Duluth, with the assistance of community partners.

Lincoln Park and Memorial are two of four qualifying parks for the Grand Avenue Parks Fund.  The Fund is part of the larger St. Louis River Corridor Project supported by the 1/2 and 1/2 Tourism Tax Fund. This specially designated funding will provide destination-level investments to qualifying parks. The Grand Avenue Parks Fund invests in community partnerships with user groups and residents to co-create and co-manage outdoor recreation experiences in the neighborhoods along the River Corridor. The Grand Avenue Parks Fund will provide 1:1 match grants up to $500,000 per park.

The public is encouraged to attend this public meeting. Anyone unable to attend may email comments to Lisa Luokkala, Project Coordinator, at lluokkala@duluthmn.gov or mail comments to Parks and Recreation, /co Lisa Luokkala 411 W 1st St., Ground Floor, Duluth, MN  55802.
