Work to Continue to Prepare Chester Bowl Park's "Fun Slope" for the Upcoming Winter Season

[DULUTH, MN] - The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation division and the Chester Bowl Improvement Club are continuing to prepare Chester Bowl Park’s “Fun Slope” for the upcoming winter season. The Fun Slope, with gentle waves of snowy berms for skiing and snowboarding, was identified as a desired addition to the park in the Chester Park Mini-Master Plan, approved in November 2014.

Over the next two weeks, crews will be working during the daytime hours to smooth out the area using dirt fill and wood chips. The public should not experience any interruption in their use of the park spaces or trails.  Between two and four weeks from now, installation of a single light pole with lights will occur. This pole replaces the lights formerly located on the “Little Chester” ski jump, and will provide the needed lighting for users to safely ski on the new Fun Slope and surrounding areas.

This project is funded in part by a grant from the Minnesota Power Foundation and material donations from Holophane.
