INCIDENT TIME: 1314
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2328 W 2nd St

On Sunday September 20th, 2015 the Duluth Fire Department responded for a report of a structure fire at 2328 W 2nd St.  The lone resident who was home was able to escape after being alerted to the fire by a passerby.  Number 2 Engine from Lincoln Park was first to arrive approximately one minute later and reported fire showing from a basement window and extending to the exterior of the house.  The 2 Engine crew was able to make entry and locate the fire in the basement and make a quick knock down of the fire.  Firefighters from the Downtown Fire Station were able to search the house, and assist 2 Engine's crew with ventilation of smoke and overhaul to prevent fire extension.  Fire crews were on scene for one hour.  A total of 19 firefighters responded from the Lincoln Park, Downtown, and Spirit Valley fire stations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The DFD was assisted on scene by the Duluth Police Department and Minnesota Power.
