 Community Bike Ride to Celebrate Duluth’s Newest Trail!

[Duluth, MN] - Celebrate Duluth’s newest trail with a guided bike ride on Wednesday, July 22, 2015! The new trail connects multiple schools and neighborhoods with a direct link to the Lakewalk! A press event is scheduled at 4:45 PM prior to the bike ride with remarks from David Montgomery, the City of Duluth’s Chief Administrative Officer, Jim Filby Williams, Director of Public Administration, and other community members. The public is encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets for a community ride that will wind along College Street, through UMD, to the Bluestone Commons entrance, and beyond! Along the way, riders will learn about Duluth’s newest trail, soon to include a multi-use trail along College Street.
 
Press Conference: Wednesday, July 22 at 4:45 PM – meet at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 835 West College Street
 
5:00 PM - Attendees will hear from City staff about plans for the trail 
5:30 pm - Two groups will leave from Unitarian Universalist Church parking lot off of College Street for a guided ride.
 
  •  Bluestone Group: Rides College St. bike lanes and paved trail through UMD to Bluestone and back. 2.5 miles.
     
  • Tischer Group: Continues past Bluestone through Mount Royal to the top of the Tischer Creek Trail and back. 3.2 miles.
     
  • Other activities in the church parking lot:
Snacks from Mount Royal Fine Foods!
Kids biking activities
Gift certificates and coupons to local businesses, including Bulldog Pizza, Chilly Billy’s will also be given away!
 
  • Help name this trail! Forms will be available for attendees to submit ideas.
 
Everyone is invited to stay around afterwards for a cycling social hour at Bulldog Pizza and enjoy bike-friendly prices featuring “Two Wheel Deals!”
 
Bring a helmet, your bike, and of course, friends!  Cyclists of all abilities are invited!
