Public Invited to Submit Ideas for Trail Naming Project
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is inviting the public to submit ideas to name a new 4+ mile trail that connects users from Rice Lake Road down to the head of Tischer Creek. The trail is currently referred to as the "Lowell to Lakewalk" trail and is a unique vertical trail in Duluth connecting neighborhoods, colleges, and schools along the way.
Name suggestions should align with the intent of the trail which promotes alternative modes of transportation, connects colleges and several public and private schools, provides a safe route for students, and integrates community health, economic vitality and environmentally-friendly principles in its design.
The naming submission timeline is provided below:
- Through July 31: Submissions welcome through the city’s online comment form or by sending a paper copy to Trail Naming Procedure, Parks and Recreation, 411 W 1st Street, Ground Floor, Duluth MN 55802.
- July 22: Special Event to be held on the proposed Trail Corridor

July 31: Trail Naming submissions closes

August 3-7: Parks and Recreation Commission’s Trail and Bikeway Committee selects three names from those submitted.

August 12: Parks and Recreation Committee choses final name
