Annual Park Point Sand Modeling Contest and Water Safety Expo
Thursday, July 16 • Park Point Beach
[Duluth, MN] - It is time to have some fun in the sun at the beach! The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation will hold the Annual Sand Modeling Contest and Water Safety Expo on Thursday, July 16th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Park Point Beach. This event is free and open to everyone.
Annual Sandmodeling Contest
Sandmodeling teams are invited to create works of art at Park Point Beach from 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Bring shovels and pails, as well as creativity! Judging will start at 1:30 PM. Prizes will be given in several categories.
Water Safety Expo
Tips on staying safe at the beach and in the water will be provided by community partners from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. There will be games and demonstrations on safety topics such as rescue boards, throw rings, life jackets as well as a demonstration on weather safety, rip currents, and kayaking.
Fun in the Sun
Staff from the YMCA will be on hand to coordinate activities like beach tug of war, hula hoop contests, water balloon tosses, a treasure hunt, and more!
This FREE event is sponsored by the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation, the Duluth YMCA and Sea Grant.
