Storm Sewer Project to Start in Lower Chester Park - Some Trails Impacted
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public of work that will be starting the week of July 6 to replace drawn drains, add rip-rap and turf reestablishment as part of a storm sewer replacement project in the Lower Chester Park area of 14th and 15th Ave East between East 6th and 7th Streets. Trails in the vicinity of this project will be closed once the work commences. The public is requested to not approach or enter the project zone. Signage has been posted throughout Lower Chester Park informing the public of this project as well as trails impacted in the project area.
The City of Duluth is committed to ensuring the preservation and protection of our treasured parks and recreation lands. The City will ensure that any disturbance to the trails, soil and plantings as a result of these projects will be minimized to the extent possible and the impacted surroundings are restored to their original state, to the extent possible. The City will make every effort to keep the public informed of trail impacts throughout the project.
Project Schedule: (subject to weather related changes)
Last two weeks of June – City staff have been out brushing and preparing the project area
Week of July 6 – Trails in the project area are closed and construction work commences
Early September – Work to be completed
