 At 03:36 on Sunday April 26th, 2015, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1712 E 5th St. Upon arrival crews found heavy fire on the exterior of a two-story house. Fire was extending up the exterior of the house to the 2nd floor. The exterior fire was knocked down with some minor extension into the attic space. Crews remained on the scene for nearly two hours.

5 occupants lived at the house at the time of the fire. The occupants reported being awoken to the sound of the smoke alarm. All of the occupants had exited the house prior to our arrival. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The residents are currently staying with friends while the investigation is being completed.

The Duluth Fire Marshal’s office is investigating this fire. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $60,000. No further information is available at this time.
