 Sprint Telecommunications Project to Start April 13

 
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth is informing the public about an upcoming project involving the replacement of a Sprint telecommunications pole with a new permanent mono-pine tower in Chester Bowl Park on the upper hillside. The project is scheduled to start April 13 and is expected to be completed by June 1, 2015. 
 
The project will require the placement of heavy equipment near the western trails in Chester Bowl Park, located on the upper hillside. The project area will be enclosed in orange fencing and heavy equipment will be in use. Park users are asked to keep a distance from the work area.
 
The City of Duluth is committed to ensuring the preservation and protection of our treasured parks and recreation lands. The City will ensure that any disturbance to the soil and plantings as a result of this project will be minimized to the extent possible and the impacted surroundings are restored to their original state, to the extent possible.
 
Access to most park trails will be maintained though some trails in the project area may become inaccessible. All trails in the project area are expected to be fully opened for users in mid-June following completion of the project. The City will make every effort to keep the public informed of trail impacts throughout the project.
 
Additional details of the project schedule* are:    
 
Week of April 13th - Equipment will be in place for foundation work.
Week of May 11-18 - Fencing of project area and mono-pine tower installation.
Week of May 25th - Finish landscaping and restoration of the park grounds.
June 1st - Estimated project completion.
